Why our early careers programme matters – To us and to our future
At IPI, our people are the driving force of our business. And when it comes to our graduates and apprentices, our early careers employees, we do not just see them as part of the team, we see them as our future.
It is a privilege to welcome individuals at the very start of their careers and helping shape their journey is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We are as committed to supporting their growth and development as they are to making an impact and forging a successful career.
The energy of a new generation
Gen Z has grown up in a different world; faster, more connected, more digital. They think differently, work differently, and question the way things have always been done. And we love that. Their fresh perspectives challenge us to evolve, to improve, and to stay relevant. That’s how innovation happens, when experience meets new energy.
We have seen firsthand the sparks of brilliance that come from giving early careers talent the freedom to contribute, the encouragement to question, and the support to thrive. They bring new eyes to old problems and new ideas to emerging challenges. It’s not just inspiring, it’s essential.
Growing future leaders
Almost 20% of our workforce now comes from our early careers programme, a mix of graduates and apprentices spread across different teams and disciplines. We don’t bring them in to just ‘do a job’, we bring them in to learn, to stretch, and to become the leaders IPI will need tomorrow.
And if we do it right, if we support them well, mentor them and help them find and make the most of their strengths, they will want to stay and grow with us. That is succession planning and futureproofing with purpose.
Of course, careers take many turns. Some may leave to explore new opportunities. But when they do, we want them to leave as confident professionals, with a solid foundation, authentic experience, and pride in being part of IPI Alumni, IPI Ambassadors. Perhaps even boomerangs who come back later down the line.
More than a programme – It’s a platform
Our Early Careers Programme is also our way of connecting with the wider world. We are building meaningful relationships with schools, colleges, and universities. We are supporting our communities. We are raising awareness of who we are and what we stand for.
And what we stand for is simple: People first. Always.
